This project was to install a Toucan Crossing facility on Cowbridge Road West, Cardiff.
This installation required localized resurfacing of the highway to accommodate new lining works that was required for this new facility.
As part of the project we installed ducting and street furniture for the upgrade works to the authorities CCTV/ Fiber Optic telematics system.
Additional Highway improvements were undertaken to locally improve highway facilities for cyclists along the street.

The locality is an extremely busy location due to it being a major artery into the western side of the City.
Also the physical proximity of the new facility to the roundabout and the highly traffic sensitivity of the street caused major challenges to programming traffic management phases.
All works had to be undertaken during 09.30 -15.30hrs working restrictions.
When undertaking the surfacing operations we had to install an inbound road closure due to lane width and safety concerns. This being the Capital City requires significant planning and programming with the local authority to avoid clashes with major events such as concerts and significant Rugby matches.
As the project also required involvement from several specialist sub-contract operations significant planning and programming was required to co-ordinate all stakeholder involvement.
The project was successfully completed on program and to budget.
